Shabbat

One of the greatest gifts granted to humanity is a day of rest. Jews are commanded in the Torah to ‘remember’ and ‘observe’ the Sabbath day, not the easiest of tasks in our busy secular world. NPLS provides regular Shabbat services, with Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday evenings where we welcome the Sabbath and Shabbat morning services.

Nippers@Northwood – Every Friday 10am-12noon

Parents, grandparents and even great grandparents are welcome to join their pre-school aged children for a play and singing.  Come along to meet other mums and dads while your child plays and join them in a short musical service and pre-Shabbat candle lighting.

1st Friday of the Month at 8:30pm

Kabbalat Shabbat service for the whole community with stimulating sermon followed by a Tea and Coffee Kiddush and an opportunity to socialise.

2nd Friday of the Month at 6:30pm

A relaxing service for the whole community often led by a Cheder Class  including a D’var Torah from one of the rabbis.

3rd Friday of the Month at 8:30pm

Kabbalat Shabbat service with stimulating sermon.

4th and 5th Fridays of the Month at 6:30pm

Our tent style service, welcoming shabbat in a relaxed, creative atmosphere with lots of singing and ruach (spirit).

Tots’ Shabbat – Once per month Saturday morning at 9:30am

An informal family centred service for 0-5 year olds, parents, grandparents and friends takes place on the bimah in front of the Ark and includes stories, prayers, music making and a kiddush with time to chat afterwards.  For upcoming Tots’ Shabbat dates click here.

Shabbat Morning Services at 11am

Our uplifting regular worship service often supported by our members’ choir.  There is a creche available every Shabbat and Festival mornings for all children under school year 1, allowing parents to enjoy the service.  The service normally lasts about 90 minutes.
