Rabbi Aaron Goldstein became Senior Rabbi of NPLS in September 2008, succeeding his father Rabbi Dr Andrew Goldstein. From 2001 Rabbi Aaron was the Outreach Director for Liberal Judaism and from autumn 2007 combined this role with a part-time position as Assistant Rabbi at NPLS.

He graduated in 1993 from the University of Aston in the field of Ergonomics and Business Studies and had a successful career with British Steel managing their business with Japanese Vehicle Transplants in Europe. In 2001, he gained a BA and then an MA in Hebrew and Jewish Studies and was ordained as a Rabbi in 2002.

As Outreach Director, he worked closely with lay and professional leadership of congregations of all sizes to identify areas of growth. He also identified potential locations for new congregations. Aaron has established and developed Communities in Edinburgh, Manchester and still works to support Communities in Gloucester and Lincoln.

Rabbi Aaron is the Chair of Liberal Judaism’s Conference of Rabbis, Trustee of Leo Baeck College – the UK’s Rabbinic Seminary – and Cantors and Chair of the UK Friends of Leo Baeck Education Centre, Haifa.

He is passionate about counting Jews in, not out of the Jewish Community; creating community; and in the UK, innovative responses to changing demographics in Jewish and secular society. Rabbi Aaron is a Progressive Zionist, being both pro-Israel and pro- Palestinian; and committed to developing the Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic (where our Torah Scrolls come from) and our twin community in Lviv, Ukraine.

He is married to Tammy and they have two daughters, Liora and Shaya. He is also married to his bikes, loves playing tennis for Croxley Tennis Club and growing fruit and veg on his allotment.
