Thank you so much for showing interest in joining Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue.   Our Hebrew name is Etz Chayim…Tree of Life.  This metaphorical tree started with a seed planted in Pinner in 1964 and has since grown a solid trunk from which now spread many diverse branches which cover all aspects of the Jewish life of our 1000+ members. We are proud to be the second largest Liberal Synagogue in the United Kingdom, large enough, in fact, to be led by two full-time Rabbis, our inspirational Senior Rabbi Aaron Goldstein, son of our illustrious Emeritus Rabbi, Dr. Andrew Goldstein, and our Assistant Rabbi Hillel Athias-Robles who has rapidly established himself as a very popular and compassionate leader of our community.

Our religious activities are envied by other communities.  It goes without saying that our services cover every festival in the Jewish calendar.  Our programme of Adult Education covers so many aspects of Judaism from Hebrew for beginners, to group weekends away and to study aspects of Jewish life and philosophy. Education for young people starts with tots and continues until Kabbalat Torah (confirmation) at 16.

We pride ourselves in our liberal attitudes to mixed-faith families and  welcome non-Jewish spouses and partners as associate members.  We are happy to arrange marriage blessings for mixed-faith couples.  For those non-Jews who have the desire and the commitment to undergo the rigours of the course, we will provide teaching leading to conversion to Judaism.  We are also very pleased to announce that we have recently become the first Liberal Jewish Synagogue to make burial in a Jewish cemetery available to non-Jewish spouses and civil partners of members, so that couples in a mixed faith relationship in life can also be buried together.

We attract new members of all ages from every section of the Jewish community, not only those who have recently moved into the area, but also many who have become disillusioned with their old synagogue and come to us looking for a new, dynamic and fresh way to continue to observe their faith and to meet new people.
